Islay Hotel and Port Ellen Maltings Silo Update

Islay News in stencil

Now that title is a bit of a mouthful, but that's exactly what you're going to get in this entry. Remember the Friday Islay Hotel Pictures and the Port Ellen Work Pictures from last week? On Sunday I received an email from Islay with lots of great pictures, two of which I'm going to show you today as update to those earlier entries. To start with the Islay Hotel:

Picture of an under construction hotel, both wings painted, only the main portal awaiting completion

That's the painting of the hotel finished. Obviously the entrance and the landing still need to be completed, but it more and more looks like the finished article now. I'm sure Roland is pleased with the results, I think it looks really good.

When I posted the picture of the top of the new silo for the Port Ellen Maltings silo a week ago I mentioned that initially I was confused why they start with the top. The reason was that they jack up the silos from the bottom every time they complete a section. Here's how that looks in practice:

Looks interesting, doesn't it?

That's all I have for today, but as mentioned in the intro there were more pictures in that e-mail. I've left the best for either Wednesday or latest Thursday. At least as far as I'm concerned it's something worth looking forward to.
