Winter Fun on Islay

Islay on Video written in stencil

While the recent cold snap really seems to be coming to an end now on Islay and across the UK (although we had 2-3 inches of snow in West Berkshire last night…) there are still some great memories of it. It reminds me a bit of Mountain Boarding on Islay, could this be the winter equivalent?

I don't think I really need to warn anyone to be very careful when going out on the ice, but before anyone complains I thought I better mention it. And I suspect I know what the reaction by the guys on Islay will be should they read this.

Anyway, the video isn't the only interesting thing here. It was filmed by Andy Ward, who also posts on Flickr under averylongwalk (as well as on Twitter as @averylongwalk). If we look under his Scotland set and there the pictures tagged Islay we find some great sunset pictures. I think my favourite is this Kilchoman Beach Sunset. But it's a very difficult choice.
