Islay Blogging Roundup #269

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Sorry for the silence yesterday, after the exhausting week and a busy day running a few errands I was just too tired to blog much in the evening. Similar to the weather on Islay it was a beautiful sunny autumn day in West Berkshire today, so at least I got out for an extended run late this morning and lunchtime. But enough of that, back to blogging with this week's Islay mentions in the blogs:

Some Islay visits: Probably the most unusual this week was by Woody, who visited as an Islay wedding magician. Whisky for Everyone went on A visit to Port Ellen Maltings during their visit a few weeks ago, Heiko looks back at A visit to… Bowmore. Orson mainly came up to visit Jura for Being George Orwell, but also visited Islay. a Swedish couple visited Scotland and their last was Day 6 Islay

A few Islay whisky related entries: The Bruichladdich News blog reports of Distilling Port Charlotte Spirit and Rachel writes about Terroir ~ in Gaelic, is Anam an Fhearrain ~ Soul of the Land. Malt Review takes a look at the Kilchoman 100% Islay – 3rd Edition. The whisky recommended to be used is Islay, so A Recipe: Whisky Truffles with Burnt Caramel Pecan Praline gets a mention.

Katie writes another guest post on the Dower House project blog, this time about Eggs!!! (and a few other things). From not far down the road the Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary reports from the Mums and Dads visit P1/2 and gives a heads up for this year's Pantomime! Ron shares an Islay Distilleries Slideshow Video and shares an update About Power 4 Islay.

On to the birdwatching and wildlife: Gordon Yates writes about a Goose Feast and a Costa Snow Bunting from his latest visit to Islay. The Islay Birds blog shares loads of birds, a Brambling and a few birds of prey and the results of a bird count from Bowmore to Gartbreck. The new RSPB Islay blog tells us about Twite at The Oa and Goats and Chough at Lower Killeyan, The Oa. John Armitage writes about Autumn glory! while Amy shares some pictures from the recent Goose ringing and tells the story of how she saw a White Tailed Sea Eagle close up.

Finally to close for this week the pictures: Charles Kenwright includes a picture from Islay when Remembering the Dead. James Collett has been out for The Golden Hour at Machir Bay, Islay and shares a nice Bowmore Sunset. Ruagaire shares a different view of Lagavulin. The new RSPB Islay blog shows a dramatic view of November storm clouds gather over the Loch Gruinart reserve, Isle of Islay. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Machir Bay on a sunny October morning, Moon and geese at Loch Indaal and October afternoon in Saligo Bay, Isle of Islay.

With that I'm going to close tonight. I hope you found some interesting blogs and Islay blog posts. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
